Launched in 2017 by Chengdu Swartz Technology (Swartz), Fazan was China's first intelligent product positioned as a lawyer workbench — it stays out of "case sourcing" and focuses on the practice itself: practice management, client management, knowledge management, and business management.
Using knowledge-graph technology to aggregate 89M+ cases and 2M+ statutes, it supports fuzzy and advanced search, intelligent profiling, and multi-dimensional visual research. Pioneering the "legal knowledge engineering" development model, it co-built domain knowledge templates with professional law firms, embedded and ready to use in cases.
From automated timers, intelligent calculators, and electronic evidence files, to client management and smart business cards, through to firm-level project approval, conflict-of-interest search, contract approval, and receivables statistics — the entire law-firm operations chain goes online.
Aggregating, cleaning, and structuring near-hundred-million-scale case data is the first engineering hurdle; the graph search and multi-dimensional visualization built on top demand deep coordination between the search engine and data modeling.
The hard part isn't "storing data" but embedding case and statute data into the practice workflow: search results must link directly to cases, files, and time tracking, requiring unified modeling of the data and business layers.
Firm-level conflict-of-interest search requires real-time comparison of historical data across clients and cases — both a feature and a compliance necessity for firms taking on cases, imposing hard requirements on data consistency and response speed.
Fazan was included in Stanford University's CodeX legal-tech company directory (Stanford Ctr. for Legal Informatics), among the few Chinese legal-tech companies listed; in partnership with Legal Publishing House (法律出版社) and FaTianshi (法天使), it built a contract template library with 10K+ continuously updated templates; its services covered a large number of law firms and practicing lawyers nationwide, with partner firms organizing practical training to advance digitalized practice.
